Yorkshire v Essex - tea day 1

Yorkshire endured a disappointing afternoon session on day one of their LV=County Championship match at Essex.

Having resumed on 111 for two after lunch at Chelmsford, they slumped to 190 for six at tea.

The first wicket fell just three balls into the session, when Phil Jaques was dismissed for 38 by Graham Napier.

Captain Andrew Gale would follow soon after for 10, before Gary Ballance (30) and Anthony McGrath (10) were then dismissed in successive overs by the talented Reece Topley.

At the interval, Andrew Hodd was unbeaten on 12, with Azeem Rafiq on seven.
