Trainer Noel Wilson tipped to celebrate Middleham move with win

North Yorkshire trainer Noel Wilson, who has recently moved from Sand Hutton, near Thirsk, to Middleham, is aiming to strike while the iron is hot at Newcastle this afternoon with Grand Art, who bids to chalk up his second success in under a week.

Wilson saddled the gelding to score at Musselburgh last Tuesday and felt a change of riding tactics had contributed to the success, coupled with a return to racing on quick ground.

Gary Bartley, who rode a patient race in Scotland on Grand Art, keeping him covered up until the closing stages, takes the ride again in the Freebets.com Handicap over two miles and a 6lb penalty may not be enough to prevent a quick double with conditions again expected to suit the in-form stayer. He is awarded the nap vote.

Channel 4 racing presenter Jim McGrath is likely to be present at Gosforth Park to see Loch Moy carry the colours of Inner Circle Thoroughbreds, a new racing syndicate founded by McGrath and his former Timeform colleague Peter Bell.

A son of Kyllachy, Loch Moy shaped with promise on his first run at Haydock two months ago. If he can build on that display, he should go close under Tony Hamilton, who is enjoying a fine season for trainer Richard Fahey.

John Quinn’s Zaplamation (4.00) and the Nigel Tinkler-trained Last Destination (5.00) are two others to note at Newcastle.

At Redcar tomorrow, Norton trainer Neville Bycroft may prove the man to follow.

He has good prospects of a double with Willbeme and nap selection Eeny Mac.

The latter goes for the Racing UK On Channel 432 Apprentice Handicap with Amy Ryan in the saddle and goes into the race after a good effort in a claimer at Beverley last time, when third despite being disadvantaged at the weights. Eeny Mac is back into handicap company here and deserves support.

Willbeme turns out quickly in the Weatherbys Foreign Exchange Handicap over six furlongs after finishing sixth in a stronger race at Haydock last Friday.

The four-year-old, who missed the second half of last season after fracturing her pelvis, has bounced back terrifically well, winning twice before her latest creditable performance. Bycroft has booked neighbouring apprentice Jake Butterfield to take the mount tomorrow and his 7lb claim will come in handy.

Bayan Kasirga is selected to open her winning account in the opening Weatherbys Bloodstock Insurance Nursery.

Fahey’s filly has run some decent races in defeat, both in maiden and handicap company. It would be no surprise to see her break her duck over this straight seven furlongs.

In the latest round of the John Smith’s Redcar Straight-Mile Championship Handicap, Karaka Jack should go well for David and Adrian Nicholls.

The five-year-old ran a good race to finish third at Thirsk on his latest outing. This sounder surface will not inconvenience him.
