Match preview: York City v Chesterfield
11:44am Friday 7th September 2012 in Sport
By Dave Flett, Sports reporter
HIGHLY-RATED Chesterfield goalkeeper Tommy Lee will miss his team’s League Two clash with York City tomorrow.
Former Manchester United trainee Lee, pictured, who has been named supporters’ Player of the Year for the last three seasons at Chesterfield, suffered shoulder ligament damage during the Spireites’ 2-1 Johnstone’s Paint Trophy victory over Oldham on Tuesday night and has been ruled out for six to eight weeks.
Richard O’Donnell will now start between the sticks at a Bootham Crescent ground where he spent a couple of weeks on work experience from Sheffield Wednesday back in 2007.
Back then, former City boss Billy McEwan drafted him in as cover for Tom Evans but O’Donnell did not make a senior appearance after being rapidly recalled due to injury problems at Hillsborough, where he remained until this summer.
O’Donnell replaced Lee in midweek but will be making his full debut for tomorrow’s visitors.
Otherwise, midfielder Craig Westcarr is available again after missing the Oldham win due to suspension but full-back Nathan Smith remains sidelined by an ankle problem.
With three draws and a defeat, Chesterfield will arrive in North Yorkshire as one of four teams in the division yet to register a league win this term – a record shared with the bottom three teams Dagenham & Redbridge, Bristol Rovers and Barnet.
The Derbyshire side are, however, unbeaten during caretaker-manager Tommy Wright’s first two games in charge.
Wright, formerly assistant to his sacked predecessor John Sheridan, followed up an encouraging 1-1 draw at early pacesetters Gillingham with a successful start to the Spireites’ defence of the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy.
The club have revealed there have been more than 60 applications for the managerial post but want to see how Wright and his number two, Mark Crossley, fare first.
Team (probable): O’Donnell, Forbes, Trotman, Hird, Ridehalgh, Talbot, Togwell, Westcarr, Whittaker, Richards, Boden.

I think City will win 2 nil (Walker, Blair) in front of 4,476 (734 away). Fully expect Coulson in midfield, McCready to feature later.
We will be sent to the lovely NE city of Coventry in the cup.

I'll go for a 3-2 City win in front of 4050.
Also, who would you prefer to get in round 2 of the JPT?
I think Sheff. Utd. away would be a fun day out.
