ANNE Bass (22) and Lions captain Michelle Britton’s 81 (treble 19, double 12) checkout for 23 ensured they entered the pairs on level terms with York John Smith’s Ladies Darts League visitors Cueball ‘B’.
Cueball captain Tracey Farmeary and Gina Whittaker edged them in front, then snooker club colleagues Tina Platt and Lynne Clapham sealed victory with a 23-dart pairs leg.
Lion’s Dawn Exton hit a maximum in the final pairs with Muriel Britton.
Walnut Tree stayed second despite losing their way at Tramways, whose Carole Layne led them to a 6-3 win.
Lynn Richford, Michelle Brierley, Becky Webster and Karen Hodgson gave Clifton a good start at Cueball ‘A’, whose Linda Welch and Chris Hayward replied before Richford and Hodgson secured the visitors’ match points.
Division two front-runners Ox ‘A’ had Sandra Bruce and Flossy Crampton top-scoring as they were prevented from a clean sweep by Bootham Club pairing Jackie Calpin and Julia Hagyard.
Jane Barnes top-scored but could not locate the all-important double.
Lisa Gatenby and Sammy Endersby gave Acomb ‘A’ the advantage at Ox ‘B’, whose Janice Green and Natalie Whitehead levelled.
However, the visitors had Kate Rankeillor and Rose Gray replying, then Gray and Sarah Rankeillor sealed victory by the meanest margin.
Edinburgh beat Acomb ‘B’ by the same scoreline, captain Chris Lamb combining with Pat Jamieson to secure match points. Vicki Rhodes top-scored for Acomb.
Leeman ‘B’s final pairing of Shelagh Kenny and Ann Reagan secured victory after Severus ‘A’ captain Glynnis Simpson and pairs partner Jackie Simpson levelled at 4-4 with a ton each.
In division three, Gemma Hall and Lynn Humble were Shoulder ‘B’ match-winners against visitors Shepherd ‘B’, whose Sonya Love starred.
Teams are reminded entry sheets for the winter season must be in by September 13, or earlier if possible.
