Tennis: Back-to-back wins snatch division ten title for Bubwith

Bubwith sealed the division ten title on games difference after winning their last two games in the IT Sports York Mixed Doubles Tennis League.

Unbeaten Alistair Southworth and Christine Frazer led the final push for promotion against Bishopthorpe , while Steve Pinion and Ann Wottge were unbeatable at Sutton-on-Derwent.

Poppleton were runners-up on games difference after winning their match at Sutton.

Poppleton were also runners-up in division one after Nick Turnbull and Claire Smith were unbeaten against last year’s champions, Dunnington .

Dunnington 2 were relegated after losing twice to Wetherby Castlegarth.

Fulford return to the top division after winning their final two matches in division two.

Jill McCreedy and Andy Lowson won 30 games against Poppleton and then McCreedy teamed up with Angus Bradshaw at Bubwith.

Rufforth renewed their promotion hopes as Patrick Evans and Sue Yoward won 30 games against Stamford Bridge.

Rowntree Park just edged out Wigginton to secure promotion behind division three champions David Lloyd.

Dunnington captured the division four silverware on games difference after Stillington failed to win enough games in their final match against York.

Captain Gordon Bruce and Jane Berry kept York up with a win against Riccall that relegated their opponents.

Poppleton grabbed the point that they needed with a draw against Wilberfoss to stay up.

Nick Latchman and Louise Haritakis helped Heworth beat Wetherby Castlegarth to lift the division five trophy.

Promoted pair Bishopthorpe and Wigginton met to decide the division six title, and Bish took it with 29 games from Jamie Winspear and Ellie Page.
