York City Knights finish bottom of Championship after defeat in player-coach Chris Thorman's last game

PLAYER-COACH Chris Thorman ended his York City Knights career on a downer after a 28-26 defeat at home to Hunslet Hawks left the club bottom of the Co-operative Championship.

Thorman, who is joining Huddersfield Giants as an assistant-coach next season, kicked three goals in his farewell appearance, with Knights tries added by George Elliott, Waine Pryce, Gareth Pountney (2) and Jack Lee.

However, Hunslet's victory in the final fixture of the campaign hauled the Leeds side off the bottom of the table and three points ahead of the Knights.
