10:50am Friday 31st August 2012 in Sport
A closing leg of 14 darts saw Neil Hart take stage three of The Jorvik Security Darts Open, organised by York Darts Promotions, after defeating Malton ’s Tommy Heron 3-0.
The route taken by Hart to the final included 18-17 darts against Yorks Danny Taal and 19 in a 3-0 win over Malton’s Shaun Young.
This was followed by two 21s with 108 and 116 finishes against Joe White of Tadcaster in the quarter-finals and 17-21-20 in a 3-0 win in the semi-final against York’s Chris Quantock.
Heron’s route saw him take out a trio of York players – 3-0 against Paul Calpin, then 16 darts in 3-2 victory over Jason Day, while a 16 darts and 103 finish for 18 was too much for YDP’s Phil Good in the quarter-finals.
In an all-Malton semi-final, a 15 dart leg was too strong for Chris Matthews as he went down 3-0.
Other highlights included 2 x 17 dart legs for Quantock in a 3-2 win over PDC player Dave Smith (15) and fast legs from Dave Riley (Lincs) of 14, Quantock 15, Matthews 17, Curtis Turner (Tadcaster) 18 and 19s from Tim Owen and Andy Harland (Driffield).
There were also 180s posted by Dave Lord, Heron and Turner, while Driffield’s Mark Kent included a 106 Finish.
Qualifiers from stage three for The grand finals at Huntington WMC on Friday, September 7, are Hart, Heron, Matthews, Quantock, Good, Owen, Harland and White.
The last chance to qualify for the Grand Finals is tonight at Huntington WMC, Registration closes at 8pm.
