HOME form is the key to an advance in the League Two table declared York City wideman Ashley Chambers .

City will now play host to Oxford and Chesterfield at Bootham Crescent on consecutive weekends, either side of a Johnstone’s Paint Trophy first round tie at Rotherham.

With the weekend toppling of Barnet, the Minstermen have now won five of their last six games on the road in the league, including last season’s play-off semi-final, but only won one in six at Bootham Crescent.

Chambers, though, remains confident that record can be remedied.

“The next two matches will be very tough games against established League Two sides in Oxford and Chesterfield but they will be footballing matches and, hopefully, we will carry our form from the last two games into the next two,” he said.

“We travelled very well last season and I’m not totally sure why we did not pick up as many points at home. We play our game and maybe it is more suited to counter-attacking in away matches.

“But our home form will be fine and, if we can turn Bootham Crescent into a fortress, we will be more than fine and looking towards the top end of the table.”

Martin Gray manager of Darlo let it slip on Monday night that York have been talking to his striker David Dowson (aged 23) who made 5 apperances for York in 2010, he came through the ranks at Sunderland then on loan at Chesterfield and Darlo, last season he played for Durham city and scored 20 goals in 34 games.
No offence to the lad but i hope we are thinking a little higher and someone with a lot more class than Northern league.
But watch this space i was first to mention McReady and we got him.

Johnno65 I am not doubting your lead on this one, I just find it funny that Mills had him on trial and after 5 games released him. Only for him to show interest again when we are a league higher.

I dont for a second think we need him back at York and their are better out there, just telling you what i've heard.
Here in Darlo they say he's quick and good at finishing and has matured with a good football head on him and should be playing at league level.
Are we bargain hunting, you decide?
