Angling: Nigel Crowl on the prowl to scoop Shepherd prize
10:58am Friday 17th August 2012 in Sport
NIGEL CROWL was the winner of the latest Shepherd Angling Club match at Beningbrough Park.
Crowl topped a field of 14 anglers, fishing feeder and worm in a peg above the roots to catch a 5lb and a 4lb bream in a total of 9lb 4oz.
Second from a peg below the roots was Kev Clark, who also had a couple of slabs in his 8lb 14oz catch.
John Sturdy, fishing the roots, had two barbel in his net of 8lb 8oz.
Roach and perch were at a premium.
Andy Taylor, meanwhile, was victorious in Westland’s AC match at Tollerton Ponds, capturing eight carp on the six-metre pole and maggot from peg five on the House Pond to record a winning 52lb 10oz.
Brian Pallister secured second spot with 50lb 4oz from peg eight.
A carp around the 3lb mark, taken in the dying minutes of Huttons Ambo AC’s midweek evening fixture at Wagtail Park Lake, ensured Paul Thompson took top spot for the second consecutive week, weighing in with 22lb 13oz.
