WOULD-BE rally driver Dane Sholl is closing in on the chance of a lifetime.
The York teenager has battled his way through to the final 11 in the Be A Rally Driver For Free With Rally Team GB competition.
A total of 6,000 initial entrants has been whittled down and this weekend 18-year-old Sholl will find out if he is the chosen one.
In the latest stage of the competition, Sholl was put through his paces by Team GB rally drivers Stefan Davis and Louise Cook.
The winning driver will race in the Wales Rally GB National ‘B’ Rally on Sunday, September 16 with Davis as co-driver.
As well as relying on their driving talent, the 11 finalists need to gain a following on Facebook, Twitter and Youtube.
Sholl is urging people in York and the surrounding area to visit his Facebook page at www.facebook.com/DaneShollRallying and follow him on Twitter at twitter.com/DaneShollRally.
Anyone interested in sponsoring the 18-year-old should phone Sholl on 07933 856667 after 5pm or message him on Facebook.
Joanne Gaddass, Dane’s mother, said: “It’s a big task in a week but he has given it his all up to now and he is determined to give this 200 per cent to try fulfil his dream to be a rally driver.”
