Cash injection for Acomb Cricket Club

Acomb Cricket Club are celebrating a £1,000 cash boost as one of six winners from the first round of the Clydesdale Bank 40 ‘Howzat’ competition, writes Mark Smith.

Clubs were encouraged to submit a video of their best ‘Howzat’ appeal and the winners were decided by a panel of judges including Clydesdale and Yorkshire Bank ambassadors Alistair Cook, Alec Stewart and Paul Collingwood.

Acomb secretary David Sykes said the money will help to improve the club for the juniors.

“The £1,000 will be put to good use by the club, by ensuring that our young players continue to benefit from excellent coaching and facilities,” he said.

The deadline for the second round of the competition is Friday, August 24.
