Yorkshire Racing Summer Festival reaches a climax with Pontefract card

The nine-day Yorkshire Racing Summer Festival draws to a close at Pontefract tomorrow and it could provide deserved compensation for Ladys First in the feature race on the card.

The £33,000 Skybet Supporting Yorkshire Racing Summer Festival Pomfret Stakes is the Listed target of Ladys First, who was narrowly denied at Sandown last time having previously finished a cracking third in hot handicap company at Royal Ascot.

Richard Fahey’s filly faces some tough rivals again tomorrow but she is a winner waiting to happen and, with Patrick Mathers on board, she is fancied to make the most of her light weight.

Warcrown, who has run several good races in defeat, should also go well for Fahey in the Ladies Day On Wednesday 8th August Maiden Strakes. Tony Hamilton rides.

Sheriff Hutton trainer Tim Walford saddles Mr Snoozy in the Moor Top Farm Shop Hemsworth Handicap.

The gelding won on this course at the beginning of the month and looks a horse with more to offer.

He has since been raised 4lb by the handicapper, but he is fancied to defy his revised mark.

Paul Midgley is enjoying a good summer, especially with his sprinters and Another Wise Kid could go well for him in the tyregiant.com Handicap.

Another Wise Kid is a four-time winner and there was a lot to like about his most recent fifth-placed effort at Beverley, which was his first outing since late May.

Ryan Moore makes a rare visit to Carlisle to team up with Sir Michael Stoute’s Commend in the FreeBetting.co.uk Maiden Stakes.

The three-year-old has finished runner-up in both his outings this season. This event will not take much winning and he is fancied to make it third time lucky.

The nap vote goes to Bondesire, who runs in the Read Hayley At racinguk.com Every Friday Maiden Stakes.

David O’Meara’s juvenile looked slightly unlucky not to prevail at Ripon last time when beaten by a whisker on the line.

Compensation awaits here, while O’Meara has double prospects with the likeable Horatio Carter in the Edinburgh Woollen Mills Handicap.

Tim Easterby has good chances of a treble. The Great Habton trainer can score with Holy Angel (2.40), a winner last time from a poor draw at Beverley, Dark Dune (3.40), narrowly beaten at Haydock last week, and Forster Street (4.40), a winner on his reappearance at Beverley.
