Elas Diamond set to sparkle on York's Knavesmire

ONE-TIME Classic hope Elas Diamond is set to make her eagerly anticipated comeback in today’s feature race at York, the EBF Stobart PJA Testimonial Lyric Fillies’ Stakes.

Trained by Jeremy Noseda, the Danehill Dancer filly was among the leading fancies for last season’s Investec Oaks after three highly encouraging runs as a juvenile.

She was runner-up to subsequent Group Two UAE Derby winner Khawlah on her debut at Newmarket in September 2010, before easily breaking her maiden at Nottingham by 12 lengths.

She then returned to Newmarket for the Listed Montrose Stakes where she was beaten only a length by subsequent triple and York Group One winner Blue Bunting.

Elas Diamond had been declared for last Saturday’s Newsells Park Stud Stakes at Newmarket but was withdrawn due to the very soft ground.

The Knavesmire track is likely to offer her much more suitable underfoot conditions and Noseda is looking forward to her return to action in the £35,000 contest.

Said Newmarket-based trainer Noseda: “I hope she can give a good account of herself.

“She was declared at Newmarket but we took her out due to the soft ground. I feel York is an ideal track for her and good, fast ground is also ideal.”

A field of eight will head to post including the Richard Fahey-trained Barefoot Lady, who was second in the Group Three Tattersalls Musidora last season over the same trip.
