Another away day in store for York amateur rugby league teams
12:13pm Thursday 26th July 2012 in Sport
THERE will again be no open age rugby league fixture in York this weekend.
While York City Knights have a free week as it’s Northern Rail Cup final day, amateur clubs York Acorn and Heworth likewise have no games in the National Conference League as NCL Challenge Cup quarter-finals take place, and both of their respective ‘A’ teams are away in the Yorkshire Men’s League.
After another confusing fixture reshuffle in the Men’s League, York Lokomotive have been left with no game.
Acorn ‘A’, having a decent season, go to Stanley Rangers, while Heworth ‘A’, originally down to visit East Hull, go to Hull Dockers.
The Lokos, meanwhile, were previously scheduled to meet the Dockers, but now have a blank weekend.
Earlier this summer, the club contacted league organisers to question the lack of regular matches. Heworth chiefs have also queried fixture planners on a previous occasion York was left with no 13-a-side action over a weekend.
