Darts: Walnut Tree beat Clifton 10-1

BABS HARRISON and Sophie Simpson hit top form as Walnut Tree trounced Clifton 10-1 in division one of the York John Smith’s Ladies Darts League.

Harrison checked out 108, with 12, treble 20 and double 18 in a 24-dart pairs leg with Simpson, who fired in two tons.

Clifton’s Lynn Richford and Michelle Brierley prevented the whitewash.

Cueball ‘B’ got the better of their ‘A’ team with a total clearance in the singles before Linda Welch and Faye Hawksby registered an ‘A’ team point.

Hawksby hit 125, 100 and 100, while ‘B’ team captain Tracey Farmeary hit two 140s in a losing cause.

Flag & Whistle’s Toni Smallwood gamed in 22 darts as she traded tons with Five Lions’ Muriel Britton in Lions’ 7-4 victory.

The teams entered the pairs all-square, but Anne Bass and Jill Reed sealed the win.

Division two leaders Castle Howard Ox ‘A’ lost their unbeaten record to Dick Turpin, whose final pairing of Laura Toomer and Sarah Brown snatched victory.

Edinburgh Arms duo Amanda Bevan and Julie Stables secured match points against visitors Acomb ‘A’, while Severus ‘A’ beat Acomb ‘B’ 9-2 with Carol Robson top-scoring.

Second-placed Leeman ‘A’ lost ground in division three as an 80 out-shot from Shoulder ‘A’s Nikki Riley inspired them to an 8-3 triumph.

Doreen England, Kath Powell and Julia McKie shone as Woolpack forged into a 3-0 lead at Shepherd ‘A’, but they only picked up one more point as they lost 7-4.
