Pocklington Town FC have received a grant of up to £5,000 over the next two years from the Football Foundation, the country’s largest sports charity.

The funding will allow the club to increase the number of junior teams they currently run by providing start-up costs and facility hire for two new age groups in Town’s flourishing junior section.

Ian Daniells, chairman of Pocklington Town FC was delighted by the award.

He said: “This funding from the Football Foundation will ensure we can provide the best facilities and coaching by FA qualified coaches to increase the participation in junior football for young girls and boys both in Pocklington and the surrounding area.”

Paul Thorogood, chief executive of the Football Foundation, said: “I commend Pocklington Town FC and the East Riding County FA for working tirelessly to secure this funding and I look forward to seeing the end result in the near future.”

Funded by the Premier League, The FA, and the Government (via Sport England), the Football Foundation is the country’s largest sports charity.

Since it was launched in 2000, the Foundation has awarded around 8,000 grants worth more than £420 million towards improving grassroots sport, which it has used to attract additional partnership funding in excess of over £520 million.
