  • "Good luck to Adriano Moke at Cambridge Utd. I hope its the right move for him. I could not see him starting many games for City this coming season. He was "ok" against the weaker teams, but he was not really physical enough for the tough matches. It will be interesting to see if he gets a regular game at Cambridge. I wonder how much that "undisclosed fee" was?"

Cambridge United confirm capture of York City's Adriano Moke

THE Adriano Moké transfer saga finally ended with the 22-year-old midfielder leaving York City to join Cambridge United, writes Tony Kelly.

Initially bound for the Abbey Stadium, Moké’s move was called off due to a snag at the medical. But City eventually waved farewell to the former Glenn Hoddle Academy starlet, pictured, when he joined the Blue Square Bet Premier side on a one-year deal with an option for a further year. The fee was undisclosed.

City boss Gary Mills wished Moké all the best adding that even though the transfer had originally fallen through, it was “always in my head that Adriano was going to be leaving”.

Added the City manager: “He has moved on and York moves on. It has not been an upset to my plans.”

Mills’ pursuit of another striker was still ongoing, but the City leader said there was unlikely to be any signing for at least the next 48 hours.

Of his move to Cambridge, Moké said he “could not wait to get started”.
