Tennis: Pocklington top of Ladies Invitation League

Pocklington Tennis Club posted their fifth win to pull six points clear at the top of division four of the Fulford Ladies Invitation League.

They followed a 63-45 conquest of Copmanthorpe by flattening Fulford 74-34. Jean Hunter and Loobie Kettlewell collected 26 games.

Rufforth toppled Dunnington 71-37 in division five. Christine Edmond and Denise Reilly won 29 games.

New Earswick shaded a tight duel against Bishopthorpe in division six, their 57-51 success graced by Niky Georgiou and Yvonne Petrujo, who top-scored with 21 games.

Wistow made it four out of four to stay top of division three after beating Rowntree Park 57-51. Sue Hudson and Jill Marsden starred with 22 games.

Boston Spa’s 64-44 victory at Appleton Roebuck was led by Lorraine Pearey and Lesley Bowling, whose 24-game haul sealed top spot in division two.

Castlegarth’s Trish Bell and Angela Crossley sparkled in a 9-3 8-4 9-3 success in a 63-45 win over Wigginton.

York went to the head of division one after Fulford 2 suffered an 80-28 defeat. Sasha Taylor and Wendy Stirke top-scored with 34 games.
