Good start for Tom Bean in York 10k Road Running League

TOM BEAN made his first appearance in the York 10k Road Running League and dominated the men’s race at Tadcaster.

He passed the halfway mark in 15 minutes 58 seconds and completed the course in a fast time of 32-34.

Veteran Ian Anderson was second, seeing off old rivals Mark Dowson, Mike Raynes and Giles Hawking in the second half of the race.

The women’s race proved much closer as only 100 metres separated the first four runners home.

Robyn Hawxby prevailed in a time of 42-06, just ahead of youngster Charlotte Mason. Liz Ensor was third, with Sarah Douglas fourth.

The next race in the series is at Easingwold on Tuesday, May 29.
