Fraser West and Josh Poulter ready for York City Knights Under-18s debuts
10:20am Saturday 26th May 2012 in Sport
Heworth ARLC Under-17s flier Fraser West and club-mate Josh Poulter will make debuts for York City Knights’ under-18s team today.
The young Knights, who beat Oldham in their opener, go to Keighley Cougars (1pm) for what was originally planned as part one of a double-header between the clubs – although the reserves match which was to follow has had to be postponed at York’s request due to the injuries in the camp.
Hooker Poulter, who chose to join York’s set-up over Featherstone’s youth system, and West, both 17, have helped Heworth U17s to win a Yorkshire Youth League division two double and have impressed Knights U18s boss James Ford in training under.
U18s manager Jack Stearman said: “They’ve impressed with their attitude and skills. We’re looking to build on the last performance when we won in very wet conditions. We’re excited to see what we can do when it’s dry.”
Knights U18s: from Morland, Dent, Minikin, Haynes, Tomlinson, Green, Brewer, Stubbs, Poulter, Fitzsimmons, Kelsey, Parker, Ellis, Braithwaite, West, Carter, Hewick, Winstanley.
