York City chiefs reward loyal fans for Football League return with ticket price freeze

YORK City have rewarded their loyal supporters by freezing prices for those who were season-ticket holders at Bootham Crescent last term.

It means those fans who committed to the club during the 2011/12 promotion campaign, will be able to witness the Minstermen’s first season back in the Football League at no extra cost.

In a further gesture, City have also extended the early bird discount deadline to June 29, taking into consideration the expense incurred by supporters who had to shell out for two Wembley trips this month, as the side triumphed in both the FA Trophy and Blue Square Bet Premier play-off finals.

Fans who were not season-ticket holders last term will be subject to adult price increases of £25 (Main Stand) and £13 (Popular and David Longhurst Stands) but will have the opportunity to pay in two instalments in June and July with post-dated cheques acceptable.

Matchday prices will also go up by £1 for all adult areas of the ground but concession admission has been frozen.

Outlining the club’s season-ticket policy, chairman Jason McGill said: “This is a thank you to our loyal supporters for standing by the club through thick and thin. I know there have been some difficult times but we can now finally look forward to bright times ahead.

“We have decided to maintain prices for those who bought a season ticket and supported the club in our last season in the Conference. It is just a small way of saying thank you to those of you who have shown such loyalty to the club.”

The prices for 2011/12 season-ticket holders for the new campaign will be (with the June 29 discount rate first): Main Stand/Enclosure – adult £300 (£323), concession £192 (£215), junior under-16 £110 (£110), U12 £46 (£46); Popular Stand – adult £262 (£285), concession adult £172 (£195), junior U16 £110 (£110), U12 £46 (£46); David Longhurst Stand – adult £242 (£265), concession £152 (£175), junior U16 £110 (£110), U12 £46 (£46).

Prices for new season-ticket holders will be (with the June 29 discount rate first): Main Stand/Enclosure – adult £325 (£350), concession £205 (£230), junior U16 £115 (£115), U12 £50 (£50); Popular Stand – adult £275 (£300), concession adult £180 (£205), junior U16 £115 (£115), U12 £50 (£50); David Longhurst Stand – adult £255 (£280), concession £160 (£185), junior U16 £115 (£115), U12 £50 (£50).

Family Stand prices have also been frozen for 2011/12 season-ticket holders at (with the June 29 discount rate first): 1+1 U16 £299 (£368), 1+1 U12 £278 (£309), additional adult £246 (£269), additional U16 £110 (£110), additional U12 £46 (£46), over 65 £190 (£246).

The equivalent prices for new Family Stand season-tickets will be (with the June 29 discount rate first): 1+1 U16 £356 (£390), 1+1 U12 £305 (£330), additional adult £265 (£290), additional U16 £115 (£115), additional U12 £50 (£50), over 65 £205 (£230).

Matchday prices will be: Main Stand – adult £19, concession £12; Popular Stand – adult £17, concession £11; David Longhurst Stand – adult £16, concession £10; Family Stand – adult £17, U16 £7.

nice offer but as mentioned on the red and blue website by a friend of mine. The club are only offering the installments offer to those who have cheque books. I dont have a cheque and dobout very much i could pay in one go.
the club show consider taking cash installments as well,. still a very nice gesture by the club

Same here on the cheque book, but a great gesture.

...and even with the full price rise it's still cheaper to watch YCFC in the League than non-League Lootingtown.

Agreed with above.

Should achieve good increase in ST holders. If I lived around York I would be a full ST holder but will the mini version still be available to cheapskates like me?

I was just going to ask that myself Alex. Because I live away from York I bought a mini season ticket, although in the end I came to so many matches it would almost have been worth having a normal season ticket. Will the mini ticket stay the same? (I'd actually come to all the games if I could afford the travelling)

I've got a cheque book. Just give me £500 cash and I'll sort it out for you!

I think its about time the club invested or allowed payment by debit & credit card, either adding a small fee to cover costs or covering the cost, it must be better selling an extra season ticket with some costs involved than not selling one at all, as a fan that lives away and without a cheque book, Im a bit stuffed

Good news about the extra time for the discount and as a season ticket holder it's nice to be rewarded! Does the nice Mr Brabin get a 3 year banning order for his conviction? If it was a fan of any club I am sure they would get one.

I contacted the club about this recently, and it's the club's bank which won't allow credit card payments for season tickets. Think it's been like this since the time the club went into administration.

If that's the case with the Bank it needs a severe talking to and a change of policy regarding York City.Otherwise move the account to a Bank who will do what the supporters and City want. The paypal idea could also have some mileage.Luckily I have a cheque book and the season ticket application was posted today.Come on City!

When you've been in administration though, I believe banks won't allow you to offer this facility. Just checked Portsmouth and Bournemouth, and they're cash or cheque (or debit card installments in Bournemouth's case) as well. It's like having a bad credit rating I suppose.

Well that was a pleasant surprise, I thought my Season Ticket would be a lot more expensive now that we are back in the league. A nice gesture from the club to reward the fans.

I would of expected the risk to be with the credit / debit card holders bank not YCFC, same as a cheque you wait for th e money to arrive into your account before issuing the Ticket,
The play off semi tickets were sold over the phone using a Debit or credit card with no problem, I know thats how i bought mine, just had to pick them up on the night , handy when you live over 100 miles away from your home town

If YCFC offered instalments they could fall into the realms of having to have a credit license, including the application and administration costs associated with it.

Fair play to the club for keeping costs down and rewarding loyal fans..

Correct. Got to love the banks - preach prudence, whilst over-leveraging themselves into bankrupcy.

Thats a great gesture by the club i certainly wouldnt expect to pay the same price for a season ticket a division higher next season.By the what exactly was the outcome regards Brabin i know the police spoke to him afterwards but never heard anything beyond that.

At the bottom of the Chris Doig article today it says that the mini season tickets will also be at the same price for those who bought one last year, though they won't be available till December 3rd.
Thanks to the club for rewarding our loyalty in this way - much appreciated.

Mad for Minstermen says...

I live away from York and get to what I can, mainly away games, no problem with the rewards on offer, but I am no more disloyal as those who bought season tickets. I believe the term loyal fans is an incorrect statement, other fans in my predicament are no less loyal.

I'm a bit underwhelmed by the mini season ticket as it is only available in December. It means almost half the season is gone before it kicks in, and our cup run will mean that it is valid for a limited number of Saturday games. If we also have bad weather it becomes a questionable benefit for those unable to get to mid week games. Why are they delaying the start of sales next season?

Sir Alex says...

Are you sure its not a typo and they mean Sept 3rd, which is the usual time? 3rd December seems a strange date and would be more like a half season ticket.
