Open Darts Championship: Quantock wins final stage

PDC player John Quantock won the final stage of the Streamline Taxis York Open Darts Championship.
Quantock included legs of 17, 18, 16 and 17 darts to defeat Ferrybridge’s Johnathan Crossland (16, 21, 16, 18) 5-4.
Both players fired 180s in the York Darts Promotions event at Huntington WMC.
Quantock defeated fellow York player Mark Hartley 4-3 in the semi-finals, while Leeds’ Dave Smith fell to Crossland 4-1.
En route to the final, Quantock had legs of 18, 19, a 146 finish for 15, 20, 17 and 17.
Other highlights saw Dave Smith (17, 13, 18, plus 180) beat Nick Harteveld 3-0 and (18, 17, 13) Scarborough’s Oliver Mitchell 3-1. Mitchell had earlier hit a 180 in 16, 17, 21 in a 3-0 win over Ray MacInally, who fired two maximums.
In an all-York tie, MacInally (15, 17) won 3-2 against John Pickering (19, 20).
Rich Corner, still recovering from illness, won in 16 and 18 with a 160 finish for 15.
Tony Darlow had legs of 17, 19, 15 and 18 before losing to Quantock in the quarter-finals.
Malton’s Paul Bulmer took out a 167 finish for 12, 18, 19 and then 16, 17, 18 in two excellent wins, while Jamie Ellem hit a 180.
The Grand Finals will be held on Satuday, June 9, at Huntington WMC, starting at 2pm. Spectators are welcome to attend.
