‘Turn out in force’ plea to York City fans
9:44am Wednesday 16th May 2012 in Sport
YORK City have sold 6,000 tickets for Sunday’s Blue Square Bet Premier play-off final against Luton Town at Wembley on Sunday – and manager Gary Mills hopes the club can take as many fans as possible back to London.
Luton sales have passed 27,000 from a total allocation of just over 29,000 and, while acknowledging the difficulties facing some York fans in funding two Wembley trips in a short space of time, Mills said: “It’s one of those occasions that doesn’t happen very often. It would be great for every single person in York to go down and support us. I understand the reasons they can’t.
“I know the thousands who would love to but can’t. Let’s get as many as we can there. Whoever can get there – thanks very much – whoever can’t – thanks as well. Newport took more than us on Saturday but you would have thought we were the ones who had double the support.
“The opportunity, for those who can and those who can’t, is to celebrate it on Monday. I am sure everyone will turn out.”
