Pilmoor Evening Cricket Leage round-up
9:42am Wednesday 16th May 2012 in Sport
THE weather played havoc with the Pilmoor Evening Cricket League programme for a second successive week with play starting in only three of the nine fixtures.
Hosts Newburgh were beaten by Sheriff Hutton Bridge in division one.
Bridge batted first at Newburgh and made 99-8, with Alex Snowball top-scoring on 31, while Danny Kiernan added 22.
There were two-wicket hauls for bowlers Dave Taylor (2-24), Jason Sargent (2-22) and Tom Banks (2-18).
Newburgh’s reply was led by the Banks brothers, James making 20 and Tom 32, with James Wilkinson also making 20.
They were well set to take the points at 88-4 with three overs in hand, but S Naylor struck back for Bridge to finish with 5-19 as Newburgh collapsed to 93 all out.
Crayke and visitors Dringhouses did their best to beat the elements.
The hosts batted first and made 128-4, thanks to Graeme Dawson’s 47 and Chris Fairhurst’s 42.
Dringhouses’ reply got off to a poor start against Drew Walker (2-22) and Liam Leckenby (2-10) before the rain had the final say with Dringhouses on 38-4 after 6.3 overs.
All division two matches were called off except that at Stillington, where New Earswick batted first and made 113-4.
Stillington made a spirited response with Karl Simpson (32no) leading the way, while Luke Ramsay made 22 and Matthew Coulson 17, but they closed in arrears on 93-4.
