Scott Lincoln sets new shot put standard

A NEW personal best throw by Scott Lincoln saw the City of York Athletics Club ace win the shot put crown at the Yorkshire Championships at Cudworth.

The 18-year-old set a new mark of 17.91 metres as he stepped up his bid to win a place in the Great Britain team for the World Junior Championships later in the summer.

Lincoln’s next assignment is his Great Britain under-20s debut in an international match at Loughborough.

Coach Paul Wilson said: “He is getting closer to what he needs and now we are in a new phase as we go for the distances.

“Hopefully, this weekend at Loughborough, he will throw further.”
