Heworth’s challenge too far

Heworth ARLC went down 70-4 at Oldham St Annes in round one of the National Conference League Challenge Cup.

The Villagers trailed 48-0 at the break but got on the scoreboard in the second period when centre Mike Welsh touched down from a kick over the top by stand-off Tom Barron.

Winger Henry Newitt, a Malton & Norton rugby union star, impressed on his Heworth debut.
