York City boss Gary Mills aims for Wembley double after FA Trophy win

YORK City boss Gary Mills said it was important his players and the fans enjoyed their Wembley triumph today before turning minds to next week's return to the national stadium.

City beat Newport County 2-0 to lift the FA Trophy, the club's first cup since the 1993 Division Four play-off triumph.

They are back at Wembley next Sunday for the Blue Square Bet Premier play-off final - which is thought to be the more important of the two games as the club look to return to the Football League.

Said Mills of today: "I hope it's the start of new things to come. It's a fantastic club and a fantastic city, with lovely, lovely people.

"We've worked hard to achieve what we want to achieve. The ultimate aim is to get out of this league, but we will talk about the trophy today. It feels great, it's wonderful, and I'm pleased for everybody."

Mills was also delighted for the fans that it was third time lucky under the Arch, after defeat in the 2009 FA Trophy final and 2010 play-off final

"I've witnessed as a player winning and losing and York supporters have witnessed losing twice at Wembley, so it's even sweeter for them that we've won the game and won the trophy.

"They will go home smiling. They deserve it. The players deserve it - they've worked so hard for me this season.

"We want to win the double at Wembley - we have to finish it off next week."

Don't miss the full match reaction from Gary Mills and the players in The Press on Monday.
