Station beat Selby rivals Hounds 4-1 to go top of division one in the Ian’s Cars of Barlby York Sunday Morning Football League.

Station forged into an early lead when Luke Crowther pounced to knock in a rebound from close range.

Hounds quickly responded with a goal from Louis Blackwell before former Selby Town player Brenton Leister squeezed a shot past two defenders to make it 2-1 to Station.

Leister then scored his second and Station’s third before the break with a looping header.

The second period saw both sides create chances, but Station made sure of the points when Durham was brought down in the box and Leister scored from the penalty spot to make it 4-1.

Station must now beat Severus in their final game to be sure of the title.

Severus are two points behind with two games remaining.

With the promotion and relegation issues settled in all the other divisions, there was only pride to play for in the other games.

In division three, promoted Beeswing drew 4-4 with Hambleton.

Daryl Dew scored twice for Beeswing, while Myron Turbine and Calum McKenzie got one each.

Hambleton replied with two goals from Danny Smith plus strikes by John Matthews and Scott Garman.

Hambleton then went down 2-1 to York Medics.

Despite taking an early lead with a goal from Jason Atherton, Hambleton succumbed to goals from Phil Byass and Greg Chambers for the students.

Gypsy Moth’s poor run continued when the division four basement side lost 2-1 to Huntsman.

The Huntsman scorers were George Wojcik and Jim Hollroyd.

In division five, Neil Hartley, Al Webster and Will Moore scored goals for York Five Lions as they beat Drax 3-1.
