Champion of champions tilt for Woodhouse Grange
11:06am Tuesday 1st May 2012 in Sport
WOODHOUSE Grange open their Black Sheep Yorkshire Champions Trophy campaign at Thackley on Sunday.
Grange, the reigning Hunters York & District Senior Cricket League premier division champions, will take on the Aire-Wharfe League title holders in a 50-overs-per-side game starting at 1pm.
The Champions Trophy sees the winners of the county’s top eight leagues battle it out in the Black Sheep-backed competition.
Woodhouse Grange secretary David Farmer said: “Although Woodhouse may be slightly under-cooked having not bowled a ball for three consecutive waterlogged weekends, they will be fielding a strong team and look to represent the area to the best of their ability.”
Sutton-on-Derwent-based Grange have seen their opening two league games washed out, along with a President’s Trophy clash with Sessay.
