THE York Minster Engineering Football League premier division title race is wide open after Huntington edged their top-of-the-table clash with Dunnington and Old Malton St Mary’s ran amok against struggling Haxby United.

Leaders Huntington beat third-placed visitors Dunnington 1-0 courtesy of an unstoppable left- footed drive from Neale Holmes which nestled into the top corner of the net five minutes from time.

However, the visitors then saw a goal-bound effort cleared off the line and were denied by the woodwork in the dying seconds.

Old Malton, meanwhile, hit eight goals the previous week and they went one better as they thumped Haxby 9-1.

Their goals were shared between John Newton (2), Darren Dunning (2), Jack Riley, Robbie Burkitt and Neil Wilford, who scored a second half hat-trick.

Riccall United were the only side in the bottom six to earn a point as they drew 1-1 at Wigginton, their first away draw since gaining promotion to the top flight and their first in 40 games stretching back to March 2009.

Recent signing Chris Jackson gave Riccall the lead inside the first minute, but the hosts levelled through debutant Josh Hutchinson.

Basement side Keystones went down 2-0 at Dringhouses, with both goals coming from Mitch Carter.

Wilberfoss are without a win in eight games after losing 5-0 at home to York RI. Darren Sellars, Ryan Davidson, Lee Powell (2) and Carl Shepherd were on target for RI.

Copmanthorpe bounced back to winning ways as they defeated Poppleton 5-2.

Joel Dixon marked his return to the club with the opener before a brace apiece from Chris Storey and Danny Leach. The hosts hit back through Nick Moss and an own goal.

Nestlé, who could have a big say in the destination of the title as they still have to play the three contenders, warmed up for the challenge with a 5-1 home win over Hamilton Panthers.

Chris Johnson (2), Ken Davis, from the penalty spot, and Kev Butler all scored in the first half for Nestlé.

Anthony Evans reduced the deficit for Panthers, but Jack Sullivan completed the scoring late on. A Tim Atkins goal gave division one leaders Terrington the advantage at the interval in their encounter at Pocklington, but the hosts salvaged a point with a Chris Day penalty ten minutes from time.

Second-placed Amotherby beat Post Office 4-3 in a rollercoaster clash.

Amotherby led with a Rob Pinder strike but then trailed 2-1 to goals from Ben Brannigan and Jimmy Whitehead before winning with strikes from John Dunning, Simon Wall and Mikey Brown.

Richard Wells hit the other Post Office goal.

Hayden Parsonage struck a goal in each half as Selby RSSC beat Hemingbrough 2-1. Jamie Wheeler hit the home reply.

St Clement’s ended a run of eight games without a win to ease their relegation worries. Goals from Dean Farrow and Simon Kehoe sealed a 2-1 home win over Bishopthorpe.

Matty Staples, the home ’keeper, saved a late penalty to deny Bish a share of the points.

Tockwith, defending an unbeaten home run of five games, drew 1-1 with Malton & Norton.

The Ryedale side, now unbeaten in seven, led through Liam Burdett before Chris Clarke equalised for Tockwith.
