YORK pair John Quantock and Rich Corner caused a BDO Scottish Open shock when they dumped John Walton and Martin Atkins out of the pairs competition, writes Dave Flett.
The Mitre duo overcame 2001 world champion Walton and ex-World Masters semi-finalist Atkins 3-1 on their way to reaching the last 16 of the tournament.
In the individuals, both players made the last 32. Corner lost 3-2 to eventual semi-finalist Benito van de Pas despite having a dart to beat the highly-rated Dutch teenager.
Quantock bowed out 3-0 to top Yorkshire player Jamie Wilson, who boasted a 109 average in the match.
Other performances from York-based players at the Renfrew event saw Tom Hair enjoy a last-16 run in the triples while, in the pairs, Vinny Gothard made the last 64, Steve Atkin and Wayne Allen the third round and Dave Scaum the second.
Tom Hair and Pip Hair, though, both went out at the first round stage.
