Simon Dyson makes up ground in Dubai Desert Classic

A SECOND successive round of 68 moved Simon Dyson into the top 20 going into the final round of golf's Omega Dubai Desert Classic.

The York-born world number 26 finished the day on eight-under-par for the tournament at the Emirates Golf Club after a superb round.

The 34-year-old was quick out of the blocks, with a birdie at the par-four first hole. Despite dropping a shot on the fifth, he shot up the leaderboard around the turn.

A birdie at the ninth was followed by a stunning eagle at the par-five tenth and he also picked up a shot at the par-five 14th.

The Malton & Norton Golf Club ace is seven shots behind leader Lee Westwood, but only four shots away from the top ten.
