REIGNING university darts champions York are hosting this year’s UK University Darts singles championships on Saturday, February 18.
The Heslington-based university will stage the tournament for the second time at the Roger Kirk Centre.
York graduate student Kirk Bevins was runner-up last year – beaten by Matthew Howard from Edge Hill University – and aims to go one better.
Said Bevins: “I was third in 2010, and second last year, so hopefully this pattern will continue. ”
The event will also see the UDUK combined university team take on that of the University Darts Association Ireland, an affiliate body of the University Darts Corporation.
Howard, plus York pair Alex Harrison and Andrew Myhill, beat the UDAI team in last year’s event.
