FORMER York City assistant coach Neil Redfearn started the task of getting Leeds United back on an even keel after the week’s upheaval.
Redfearn is currently serving as temporary manager in the wake of the sacking of Bedale-born Simon Grayson hours after the 4-1 humbling United suffered to Birmingham City at Elland Road.
Next up tomorrow is the long haul to Brisol City with Redfearn – Leeds’ under-18s coach, who also takes charge of the reserves – preparing the senior squad while a full-time replacement for Grayson is appointed.
Redfearn joined Leeds just over three years ago after leaving Bootham Crescent, where he was assistant manager to Martin Foyle and where he also acted as caretaker boss.
United’s crash to Birmingham after taking the lead through top scorer Ross McCormack prompted chairman Ken Bates to sack Grayson after three years in charge.
The defeat sent Leeds down to tenth in the npower Championship, but only four points shy of a promotion play-off place.
Said Redfearn: “If I can help the team to a few wins then that will be a good thing.”
