SNOOKER player Paul Davison eased through his wildcard match at the German Masters to book a first round clash against Judd Trump today.
The Pickering potter beat Krzysztof Wrobel 5-2 at Berlin’s Tempodrom to line up the last 32 encounter with the world number five, who won the UK Championship at York last December.
After the opening two frames were shared, Davison moved into a 3-1 lead at the interval but, in a match which was often scrappy and without fluency, Wrobel won the next to reduce the lead to just a single frame.
Davison’s experience saw him through, however, and he took the next two frames – the last helped by a break of 38 which left Wrobel needing snookers – to earn the right to meet Trump this morning.
