Tadcaster Albion missed out on the chance to go top of the Northern Counties East League premier division.

The Brewers were downed 3-0 at home by leaders Retford United, leaving them five points behind in second place but with two games in hand.

After an hour of stalemate, Warren Hatfield gave Retford the lead at Ings Lane, and Carl Haslam made it 2-0 12 minutes later.

Haslam’s second goal on 89 minutes wrapped up the win for the visitors.

Basement side Selby Town were beaten 3-1 at Lincoln Moorlands Railway, leaving new boss Graham Hodder still searching for his first win with the Flaxley Road club.

Lincoln led through Josh Nichol’s 14th-minute goal, but Craig Aspinall levelled for the Robins on 61 minutes.

Four minutes later Danny Hargreaves put the hosts back in front and Ben Garrick sealed the win eight minutes from time.

Scarborough Athletic beat hosts Long Eaton United 5-0.

They led 1-0 at half-time thanks to Tony Hackworth’s seventh-minute opener. Adam Lee then scored twice around the interval and Ryan Blott netted in the 77th and 79th minutes.

Pickering Town were without a game but they were handed a boost when the sides immediately above them in the table failed to register a win.

Harrogate Town drew 0-0 with Blue Square Bet North visitors Histon at Wetherby Road.

The home side gave debuts to new signings Paul Bolland and Rob Youhill – the former Tadcaster Albion player – as they ended a three-match losing sequence.

Harrogate Railway Athletic toppled top ten side Salford City 2-0 in Evo-Stik League division one north.

Ben Parkes gave the hosts the lead on 20 minutes at Station View and Luke Durham made it 2-0 on 63 minutes.
