UNBEATEN New Earswick All Blacks ARLC went to the top of the Pennine League championship with a superb 19-6 victory at Keighley.

Coach Simon Baynes was full of praise for his players after they extended their 100 per cent record to three games.

“This victory was up there among the best under my leadership of the All Blacks,” he said. “I am very proud of my players.”

Ben Jones, playing at stand-off, claimed the first try for the visitors before adding the extras himself.

Young winger Lewis Pool bagged an unconverted try and the All Blacks led 10-0 at half-time.

Max Bracken was the All Blacks’ third try scorer and Jones was successful with the conversion before adding a penalty to the tally.

Further pressure on Keighley’s line allowed Jones to kick a drop goal, giving the All Blacks a 19-0 lead.

Keighley scored a converted try to get on the scoreboard, but it came too late to trouble New Earswick.

Former York City Knights prop Jack Stearman made his return to New Earswick colours after his registration came through only an hour before the team travelled.

New Earswick ‘A’ made it a win double for the club with a 42-10 victory over Slaithwaite Saracens ‘A’ in their opening division four fixture.

Player-coach Alan Pallister crossed for the opening try at White Rose Avenue and George Pallister added the first of four conversions.

Full-back Chris Elcock linked into the line well to score the second and George Pallister touched down for an unconverted try on 24 minutes.

Liam Gargan, unable to travel with the first team, was next over the whitewash and George Pallister got the extras for a 20-0 interval lead.

All Blacks got a wake-up call early in the second half as Saracens scored a soft converted try.

Youngster Liam Davison got the home side back on track with a converted try and George Pallister bagged his second try, converted by Gargan.

Slaithwaite hit back with a consolation try before hooker Alan Pallister grabbed a trademark try from acting-half.

Michael Horton rounded off the All Blacks’ scoring with a converted try.

Props Kyle Lawson and Gareth Allott were superb for the All Blacks, while George Pallister was adjudged man of the match.

The All Blacks’ line-up was notable for including two sets of fathers and sons. Prop Alan Davison joined stand-off son Liam in the side along with Alan Pallister and son George.

Selby Warriors top division two with three wins following a 54-0 thrashing of West Bowling ‘A’.

Hooker Gavyn Lightowler, the man of the match, scored the opening try before Dave Makin went over twice, with Lightowler kicking all three conversions for an 18-0 half-time lead.

Lightowler added two more tries and four conversions to his tally in the second half, while Ben Harris, Chris O’Neill (2), captain Wayne Fennel and Kyle Jarrett also crossed.

Selby’s ‘A’ side also won, beating hosts Greetland All Rounders 44-12.

The try scorers were Ryan Wagstaff, Dan Wagstaff, new signing Daniel Parish, with a hat-trick on his debut, Bobby Parish, with a brace, and Danny England. Nick Weaver kicked six conversions.

Heworth ‘A’ side lost 34-16 at home to North Yorkshire Stallions in the Yorkshire Men’s League.

The Villagers started brightly when Rob Ainsworth crashed over after six minutes, but the Stallions scored two quick tries.

A Tom Barron pass found Phil Musgrave, who raced over from 15 yards and Barron converted.

A converted try gave the visitors a 16-10 half-time lead and they added three converted tries. Heworth were rewarded with a try from winger Tom Atkins, and Barron converted.

Veteran Musgrave led from the front with an 80-minute display, as did debutant Adam Winterburn and Tom Atkins.

York Acorn ‘A’s game at Stanley Rangers was postponed.
