Frankie Dettori eyes big race win at Doncaster for Godolphin

White Moonstone has been hugely impressive on her first couple of appearances and can complete the hat-trick in tomorrow’s Keepmoat Delivering Community Regeneration May Hill Stakes at Doncaster.

Godolphin’s American-bred youngster created a big impression when making a winning debut at Ascot in July and took another step forward by running away with the Sweet Solera Stakes at Newmarket next time.

She showed in the latter of those events that cut in the ground holds no fears for her and the way she streaked clear suggests this step up to a mile is well within her compass.

Frankie Dettori has spoken about the daughter of Dynaformer in glowing terms and while she may have to improve again to land this prize, that is certainly not beyond the realms of possibility.

The feature race on day three of the St Leger Festival is the Doncaster Cup and it is hard to look beyond Michael Jarvis’ talented stayer Opinion Poll.

The four-year-old bolted in on his first start of the campaign at Doncaster and although fast ground scuppered his chance at Goodwood next time, he bounced back with a Listed victory in France.

Conditions were again not to his liking when third on his next appearance at Sandown, but he was hugely impressive in last month’s Lonsdale Cup and he will certainly have his ideal ground on Town Moor.

He is actually unbeaten on going officially described as good or slower and although he is forced to concede weight all round in this event, he should be up to the task.

Zebedee can continue his remarkable season with victory in the Polypipe Flying Childers Stakes.

Richard Hannon’s grey has won five of his six starts this season, including a Group Three win at Goodwood and a lucrative sales race win at Newmarket last time.

Provided his busy campaign is not catching up with him, another visit to the winner’s enclosure looks on the cards.

It was difficult not to be impressed with Frankel’s debut win at Newmarket and he can follow up in the Frank Whittle Partnership Conditions Stakes.

The Galileo colt travelled brilliantly on that first start and with conditions likely to be similarly testing on Friday, it would be a brave man who opposes Henry Cecil’s youngster.

The consistent Jedi gets the vote in the Ladbrokes Mallard Stakes, while Damien is back on a winnable mark in the Brakes Fresh Ideas Handicap.

Course and distance winner Willing Foe is the choice in the closing Universal Recycling Classified Stakes.

While most of Richard Fahey’s attention will be focused on the action at Doncaster, he is likely to have an eye on the The Mellor Fella at Chester, who has outstanding claims in the Axon Resourcing Nursery.
