Driffield’s Richard Grice cracked a fine 143 against Stamford Bridge in division 4A of the Hunters York & District Senior Cricket League.
He was supported by Mark Briggs’ 38 as the hosts posted a total of 241-7.
Tom Norman (3-18) and Rob Woodcock (3-28) then reduced Stamford to 140-7 with Mark Woodliffe making 36 in the draw.
The chance of Osbaldwick breaking their win-less run was soon in tatters as they could only make 139-9 batting first against Hull Zingari.
Mark Ridsdale (27), Dave West (28) and Adam Butterfield (29) were the prime scorers.
While Butterfield took 3-53, Hull cruised to a comfortable five-wicket win in 40.2 overs thanks to Tim Garland (50) and Henry Frankish who was undefeated with 51.
Division 4B leaders Acomb recorded their 12th win of the season at Huby to effectively end their opponents’ lingering promotion chances.
Paul Hemmingway struck 91 and James Byford 63 in a useful Acomb batting display that took them to 230-7.
Huby made a valiant effort to make the runs in a win-or-bust display with Mike Mizerzwinski hitting 70, Dan Grainger 68 and Tim Little 34. But they were dismissed for 222 with Sam Dodds taking 4-29 and Hemmingway 3-32.
Rowntrees’ batsmen revelled in the good batting conditions at Dunnington where they rattled up 261-4.
Sean Marshall set the ball rolling with 86, while Graham Pearce made a handy 32. The star of the show was Stef Cockerill who batted extremely well to make an unbeaten 89 which effectively put the game out of reach of the home club.
Dunnington replied with 182-9 as Tim Wilson made 28 and Dan Andrews 44. The pick of the Rowntrees bowlers was Kev Palmer with 4-31 with Dominic Atkinson taking 3-51 in support.
There was a shock victory for Carlton Towers who moved out of the bottom two in division 5A for the first time this season when they had a final day’s win over champions Huntington.
Marcus Johnson re-discovered his early season form to hit an unbeaten 81, while Simon Kale added 32 to a Huntington total of 173-8.
Simon Boddy took 3-32 and Carlton under-17 skipper Matt Smith 3-36.
The youngster then followed with 56 and had worthy support from Steve Watson (25) and Boddye (31).
Murray Coyle took 4-46 but Carlton crept to a nerve-jangling one wicket win with just four balls to spare.
The game marked a rare appearance of former Huntington stalwart Wally Baynes. He was searching for his first wicket of the season but was unsuccessful, breaking a wicket-taking run dating back to 1968.
Will Phelps hit his second ton of the season when he made 131 not out as Civil Service rattled up 271-5 at home to Pocklington.
He was well supported by Darren Handley (40) and James Chisholm (43) as James Saltmer took 3-43.
In reply, Ed Gallagher made 39 and Ian Josefowski 28, but Tim Owen’s 3-27 had Pocklington hanging in for a draw at 166-9.
The bottom two sides in Division 5B clashed at Mille Crux, where a five-wicket win for Civil Service left home side Rowntrees 74 points adrift.
Dan Dodds inflicted serious damage on Rowntrees’ batting line-up with a 5-27 haul. Phil Walls (35) and Dave Ward (26) helped the home side to 116.
But Peter Noble hit an unbeaten 69 as Service moved to a winning score of 120-5.
Tadcaster were bowled out for 103 at Stillington as Adrian Leckonby took 4-27 and Alex Fowler 3-26. Long-serving Peter MacNamara made 31. Kev Borwell then smashed an unbeaten 70 as the hosts won by nine wickets.
York IV cemented their position at the top of the division by winning for the 17th time in 20 outings.
John Rossington hit 70, Mark Lawrenson 46 not out and James Hodge 43 as Bolton Percy made 179-3. But Nick Elliott, with 64, and John Renshaw (30 not out) steered York to a three-wicket win.
