LONDESBOROUGH PARK won the Foss Evening Cricket League division two title after beating hosts Pocklington.

The visitors were in a tricky situation until 14-year-old Greg Drewery (25) added 35 with Steve Dawson (20) to lift Park to 99-6 from their 16 overs.

Drewery then started Park off in perfect fashion by taking a wicket with the first ball of the innings. A burst of 4-12, including two wickets in as many deliveries from Darren Moody meant Pocklington were bundled out for 66 with only Jamie Kember (21) showing resistance. Yapham claimed a narrow one-run victory against The Retreat thanks to the fielding efforts of wicketkeeper Andy Hoole. Yapham posted 90-7 with Martin Pearson making 26 while Alistair Byers took 3-9.

The Retreat’s star batsmen this summer, Gareth Fenton (27) and Salman Syed (26), both made runs but two stumpings and three run-outs from Hoole saw them fall short by the smallest of margins.

Further expansion of the Foss League is likely. Clubs interested in applying for the 2011 season should contact Mike Wellock at garnshaw@msn.com or Kevin Smith at grangekas@hotmail.com
