Thirsk have been crowned champions of Pilmoor Evening Cricket League division one but in anti-climatic fashion, writes Jamie Crane.
Their opponents, Crayke, conceded the final fixture of the campaign, handing Thirsk their fourth successive league title.
Sessay finished runners-up, while Acomb have been relegated after defeat in the bottom of the table clash at Easingwold.
Andrew Metcalfe devastated Acomb’s batting line-up by taking six wickets for a mere 20 runs.
Joe Dale and Andrew Green scored 20 and 25 respectively, but they finished on 85-9.
Metcalfe then hit an unbeaten 65, including seven fours and four sixes, to guide Easingwold to a comfortable victory and survival.
The division two title went to Helperby after a conclusive victory over Civil Service.
Joe Kinsella and Dan Spink both retired for the champions with half-centuries and John Cannon finished on 42 not out to see Helperby to a mammoth 157-1.
Will Phelps then hit 50 retired as Civil Service closed on 78-6. Joe Corner took 3-19.
Alne finished as runners-up after beating Sheriff Hutton in their final game. Nick Schofield contributed 24 of his side’s 92 runs.
Tom Shaw and John Henley recorded figures of 3-28 and 2-32 respectively for Alne. Shaw then hit 33 as Alne cruised to victory.
Sheriff Hutton Bridge suffered a three-wicket defeat to Sessay.
