York City suffered a 3-1 defeat at Eastbourne Borough in the Blue Square Premier.
Matt Crabb gave the hosts a 14th minute lead and Andy Atkin doubled the advantage three minutes later before scoring a third on 32 minutes.
Michael Rankine pulled a goal back from the penalty spot for the Minstermen on 45 minutes.
