KARTIERS keeper Tom Osborne enjoyed the game of his life to help the Selby side lift York FA's Saturday Senior Cup.

A string of fine saves by Osborne kept Huntington Rovers at bay as Kartiers enjoyed a slender 1-0 victory after surviving a second-half onslaught.

James Tweedie's 33rd-minute penalty, awarded for handball, proved the only goal of the game as Huntington finished beaten finalists for the second successive year.

Osborne's heroics began as early as the fifth minute when he kept out a tremendous Chris Dyson shot.

Opposite number Steve Myers was also equal to a headed Andrew Richardson effort at the other end.

Dyson was again denied by a breathtaking Osborne save from a header before Andrew Woodall squandered a couple of Kartiers' chances prior to Tweedie converting from the spot.

Huntington's Jack Wilson then hit the bar with Osborne beaten for once but the Kartiers keeper, aided by poor finishing and stout defending, protected his team's advantage during the second period.

The Faber Trophy was presented by York FA president Roy Ellwood.

Wigginton Grasshoppers won a tight Leeper Hare York and District League Senior Cup final with an extra-time penalty from Jimmy Seal.

They had the better of the first half and went in front through Tom Coates after 21 minutes though they did create chances in the first half to have increased their lead.

In the second period Nestl Rowntree had the better of the game and forced an equaliser just two minutes from time but Wigginton claimed the cup with Seal's welltaken spot kick in the first half of extra-time.

Riccall finished as runners-up in division two after thrashing Sheriff Hutton 7-0 in their final game with goals from Jack Rogers (3) Andy Northern, Liam Brown Grant Saker and Ryan Chadwick.

A Shane Singleton hat-trick saw a strong Thorpe United side beat Easingwold 5-0 in Reserve 'B' and they now join Rufforth in Reserve 'A' next season.

Thorpe went in front early on through Craig Whitely before Singleton's treble and they wrapped up their promotion with a brilliant solo goal from Alan Jackson.
