New signing strikes to send Pickering Town on way to seven-goal win

GOAL crazy Pickering Town made it 21 in four games with a 7-1 thrashing of Hallam in the Northern Counties East League premier division.

The Pikes’ victory at Mill Lane extended their unbeaten run to 12 games as they cemented sixth place in the table.

Former Tadcaster Albion and Scarborough Athletic striker Danny Gray took only eight minutes to open his account for Pickering on his debut.

Hallam levelled on 25 minutes, but Chaz Wrigley netted a minute later and Liam Salt made it 3-1 at half-time.

After the break, Tom Adams scored twice from the spot on 51 and 69 minutes, Wrigley got his second on 72 minutes and Darren Clough rounded off the scoring with two minutes remaining.

Manager Mark Wood and his men have a League Cup fourth round trip to Emley on Wednesday (7.45pm).

Selby Town’s game at home to Long Eaton was postponed and the Robins are next in action at home to Armthorpe tomorrow (7.45pm).

Scarborough Athletic lost 4-2 at top five rivals Thackley.

Michael Price and Ryan Blott were the Scarborough scorers.

In division one, third-placed Tadcaster Albion kept their title dreams alive with a dramatic 2-1 victory at Emley.

Micky Amos put Emley in front on 26 minutes, but Albion levelled with a Mick Clarke own goal on 55 minutes and Terry Taylor then struck a last-minute winner.

Albion travel to struggling Eccleshill tomorrow (7.45pm).

A 70th-minute goal from Gareth Seddon condemned Harrogate Town to a 1-0 defeat by Blue Square North leaders Fleetwood at Wetherby Road. Basement side Harrogate host Workington tomorrow (7.45pm).

Harrogate Railway suffered a 3-2 defeat at Mossley in UniBond League division one north, with Kevin Ryan bagging both goals.

Ryan opened the scoring on 13 minutes, but Mossley levelled within two minutes and led 2-1 at the break.

A third goal on 63 minutes put the game beyond Railway before Ryan pulled a goal back with two minutes remaining.

Tonight Railway host Warrington Town (7.45pm).
