A MAJOR drive to recruit budding young talent has been launched at Forest of Galtres Golf Club.
The club are offering group lessons to all children interested in golf on Saturday and Sunday mornings throughout the summer. Lessons start on Saturday. April 3, and will give beginners and experienced young golfers the chance to learn about golf and improve their skills. During his first year at Forest of Galtres, head professional Alastair Grindlay has fully refurbished the golf shop which is now fully stocked with leading brands and has also helped to increase club membership including introducing more ladies to golf with his ‘Ladies Thursday’ scheme. This season the target is to bring more young golfers to the game and increase junior membership.
Said 32-year-old Grindlay: “We have put a structure in place to cater for juniors to enjoy their golf and compete in club competitions. “Our aim is to be in a position to have our juniors playing in local tournaments and club matches within the year and have an environment that allows junior golf to flourish.” He added: “We have some great facilities here for juniors including a six-bay covered driving range.”
A ladies’ fashion show will be held at Forest of Galtres on Thursday, April 15, at 7pm. It is open to everyone. For details phone Grindlay on 01904 766198 or email info@agrindlaygolf.co.uk
