YORK City’s supporters have a “major part” to play as the side look to secure a top-five place at the end of the season, according to manager Martin Foyle.
Five of the club’s remaining nine matches will be played at Bootham Crescent, kicking off with tomorrow’s home clash against play-off rivals AFC Wimbledon.
Relegation-threatened quartet Tamworth (March 27), Eastbourne (April 10), Barrow (April 13) and Grays (April 17) will then travel to North Yorkshire before the Minstermen wrap up the season at Stevenage on April 24.
City were unbeaten in 23 home matches prior to back-to-back defeats against Eastbourne and Salisbury during their last two Bootham Crescent outings and Foyle is hoping the fans can now help the team over the finishing line.
The City chief said: “We need to get our home form back on track. Our fans were outstanding at Altrincham and Mansfield and that helps.
“The players respond to the positive support and, at this time of the season when you get a lot of nervous football because the rewards are so big, the crowd can really play a major part.”
