Mitre secure York John Smith’s Darts League title

RICH Corner (2 x 19), John Quantock (180 for 18) and Lutz Leutzsch (17) helped Mitre secure the division one title in the York John Smith’s Darts League with a 7-2 win at Crescent.

Second-placed St Paul’s had Paul Cropper (17, 18 & 180) in top form during an 8-1 win over Tang Hall, whose John Lansbury had a 180.

Shepherds’ Mark Hartley (18), John Mooring (15), Tony Cooper (19) and Mark Jones (20) played well in a 6-3 win over Greyhound, whose Stu Limbert (17, 20) and Jamie Harding (180 for 18) starred.

Adam Thompson (126 bull c/o), Steve Atkin (20), Keith Turner (20) and Mark Mason (20) gave Acomb a 8-1 win over Flag, whose only success came from Graham Hudson and Lee Rollinson.

Crescent bagged the division two title as Steve Smith and Neil Fairclough won a decider at Fulfordgate. Cueball stay in second after a 7-2 win at Tree.

Holgate need a point to guarantee the division three title after beating Acomb 7-2.

The quarter-finals of the division one and division two/three pairs and individuals will take place at the Crescent WMC on Thursday, 8.30pm.
