York Indoor Bowls Club ‘A’ can only wait and see if they have qualified for the Yorkshire Over-55s League Challenge Cup after they beat Metrodome, in their last game before closing down, 91-63 picking up 16 points.
The game started well with the away rinks picking up one win and the aggregate points.
The team skipped by Geoff Walker were level at 13-13 after 14 ends before winning all but one of the remaining ends to finish 24-16.
Malcolm Thompson’s side dropped a three on their last end to go down 22-20.
At home, Graham Instone’s team won seven successive ends between the tenth and 16th which yielded 17 shots to move the score to 24-4 – they finished 28-10.
Fred Clayden’s team trailed 12-7 after 11 ends before picking up 11 shots from the next five ends which gave them a cushion to win 20-16.
York must now wait on the result from the Doncaster and New Earswick game before knowing their fate.
