YORK City climbed back into a play-off position after an excellent 1-0 victory at Mansfield Town last night.
The Minstermen claimed their first win in eight games thanks to Courtney Pitt’s 61st-minute strike and, although Richard Brodie’s penalty was later saved, the visitors secured a deserved three points.
Former City centre-back Luke Foster, now skipper at Field Mill, was also harshly sent off on 82 minutes.
City moved into fifth spot with Kettering going down 2-0 at Altrincham.
Martin Foyle’s men are now two points ahead of the Poppies and have played a game less.
He said: “We have had a poor run but not played badly and this was a massive three points. There was some fantastic football from us and we dominated from start to finish.
“We also looked a bit nastier than we have done in recent matches.”
