Simon Dyson climbs world golf rankings

CLOUD nine was the province of York’s swing-master Simon Dyson as he advanced in the world golf rankings.

Dyson’s creditable joint 50th place in the World Golf Championship event at the Blue Monster Doral course in Florida not only earned him a cheque for £33,500 and took his earnings this year beyond the £100,000 barrier, but, more significantly, it also nudged him nine places up the world ratings from 64th to 55th place.

And the Miami mission also kept Dyson in sixth place in the European points rankings for selection towards the Ryder Cup team later this year at the Celtic Manor complex in Wales.
